Technical Release Notes 1.9.0.1
Additions
Enhanced VIEWpath logging for “VIEWpath Recordings” tab
VIEWpath shows the method that started the recording (Lecture Capture, Microphone, Webpage, Schedule)
VIEWpath logs show the timestamps of each log
VIEWpath logs show each step in recording, downloading, processing, uploading process to give admins better details where a failure occurred.
Added licensing resiliency for VIEWpath. If licensing check fails due to inability to reach server it will give a 7 day grace period to check in successfully so teachers don’t get blocked out of VIEWpath.
Also added an “Invalid License” screen if VIEWpath licensing has failed/expired so users know why they can’t access VIEWpath.
Fixes
EPIC now detects if VIEWpath cloud password has changed and asks user to update locally so My Workshop link and recordings continue to work after the cloud account password is changed.
Modified list of allowed special characters in VIEWpath account and added validation to it when creating My Workshop account as some characters would cause user creation to fail or not allow them to link the cloud account.
Usernames now ignore case sensitivity when creating an account and logging in.
Added following stability improvements to VIEWpath recordings to improve reliability of recordings in certain rare cases that caused failures
“Once” Scheduled recordings would show repeating daily.
Microphone initiated recordings stopped by the webpage would only be 2 minutes long
If there was a timing issue in lecture capture upload, the following recording could have an invalid “max timer” set resulting in recordings stopped prematurely.
Improved retries and leaving source files intact in case of failure
Occasionally a duplicate job id would be assigned to a recording causing it to fail, now it will check for duplicates and re-generate.
In rare cases EduCam360-C or PTZ-B recordings could crash (segfault) and cause failed recording files. This has been rewritten to eliminate this issue.
Fixed a browser cookie size issue where LDAP users who belonged to many LDAP groups would fail to login to EPIC due to browser cookie size restriction.
