EPIC System 2.2.1.0

Technical Release Notes 2.2.1.0

Additions

  • Added several Single Sign On integrations into EPIC, allowing more districts to utilize SSO.

    • Classlink SSO

    • RapidIdentity SSO

    • Microsoft SSO

    • Google SSO

  • VIEWpath was updated - now users who are utilizing SSO don’t have to set up a password for their VIEWpath My Workshop account if they are using any of the new SSO integrations.

  • VIEWpath uploads are simplified.

  • Added new event actions allowing for more control with ITC events.

    • Users can execute custom intercom calls to different destinations using “callExtensionFromRoom” action.

    • Users can have custom commands return to the room device that started an event, allowing them to turn on relays or run other commands more dynamically within EPIC.

Fixes

  • 3rd party SMS provider required a cycle of all API keys, blocking SMS Text messages for EPIC Systems. This update addresses that and adds resilience to avoid requiring an EPIC update in the future. Customers must update to this version to enable SMS in EPIC. Email services are not affected but this change also adds resilience to that API for future-proofing. Please see Service Bulletin for more details.

  • ITC Default layout was not editable after the EPIC 2.2.0.0 upgrade was released.

Tech Notes

  • EPIC 2.2.1.0 SMS and Email will not work until EPIC is upgraded to this version.

  • EPIC 2.2.0.0 and District View 1.2.0.0 introduce a more secure connection mechanism. Both systems need to be updated simultaneously.

  • Version 2.1.0.0 and above is required for EPIC Mobile Application. Mobile App validates EPIC system when URL is entered to check for compatibility between app and server version.

  • Versions 1.9.0.0 and above can use the standard upgrade procedure to update to 2.1.0.0+.

  • Versions below 1.9 must contact Audio Enhancement for a custom upgrade process.

    • Users must first upgrade to 1.9.0.1 and then run the upgrade to 2.1.0.0+

    • There is a specialized import process from 1.8.1.0+ versions of EPIC to 1.9.0.0. Customers will need to be updated to 1.8.1.0 or above, then take a backup. After installation of 1.9.0.0, this backup can be directly imported into EPIC 1.9.0.0 for a seamless upgrade.

Known Issues

  • SMS and Email are not working in versions lower than 2.2.1.0

  • Some large schools with many devices have reported performance slowdowns on this version. Improvements were added in 2.2.1.1 and that version is recommended over 2.2.1.0.

Note: Google SSO was also released and we missed notating this above when creating the release notes. Added to the list of SSOs above on 7/26/23
