EPIC 2.5 is a new major release update that includes several significant user interface changes. Administrators should review the EPIC Interactive Training Module and prepare and train users prior to rolling out the updates. This is an open early access release. Customers should be aware of the updates and test it thoroughly before rolling it out to all sites.

Additions

• Enhanced and improved the Event Engine - With a new user interface (UI) as well as several new features, improvements, and bug fixes to make setting up and managing all events and notifications smoother than ever.

• Completely redesigned Intercom and Paging - Created a more intuitive and visually appealing user interface (UI) experience for administration. The new layout provides quick access to essential functions, allowing users to navigate seamlessly between intercom and paging features. Also introduced Dynamic Paging. With this new feature, administrations can select any number of rooms on the map to create a ‘custom zone’ and initiate a page for only those selected rooms.

• Completely redesigned SAFE Alerts - Updated and enhanced the user interface (UI) that introduces a fresh and intuitive interface, along with enhanced functionality, to elevate the user experience and streamline emergency management within the platform.

• Implemented a new SAFE View for Lockdown Events - giving administrators and security personnel the ability to observe classroom activities during lockdown events, ensuring a proactive approach to safety and security.

• Implemented a new Lockdown Check-In - With the use of ITCs, this enhancement allows classrooms to proactively check in during Lockdown events, providing an additional layer of safety and communication during critical situations.

• Added integration for Door Positioning Sensor devices with EPIC - Schools that integrate the Door Positioning devices with EPIC, allow administrators to receive real-time alerts when a door is not secure, enhancing security measures and providing proactive monitoring capabilities.

• Added integration for Halo Vape Dection devices with EPIC - Schools that integrate Halo Vape Detection devices with EPIC, allow administrators and designated personnel will be promptly notified, allowing for immediate intervention and support for students engaging in prohibited activities.

• Added integration for Common Alert Protocol (CAP) - EPIC is now capable of receiving and processing CAP messages in real-time. Instantaneously respond to external alerts and integrate them into your emergency management workflow within the EPIC system.

• Implemented Display Takeover - With the use of the InfoView devices, administrators can now take over all wall-mounted screens during SAFE Alerts, ensuring that important safety information is prominently displayed on all connected screens. This feature enhances situational awareness and guides students and staff on appropriate actions to take.

Fixes

• There were various quality-of-life fixes and minor security updates.

Tech Notes

• Notice for EPIC Versions Before 2.2.1.0! SMS text notifications will not work until EPIC is upgraded to 2.2.1.0 or above.

• EPIC 2.2.0.0 and District View 1.2.0.0 introduce a more secure connection mechanism. Both systems need to be updated simultaneously.

• Version 2.1.0.0 and above is required for EPIC Mobile Application. Mobile App validates EPIC system when URL is entered to check for compatibility between app and server version.

• Versions 1.9.0.0 and above can use the standard upgrade procedure to update to 2.1.0.0+.

• Versions below 1.9 must contact Audio Enhancement for a custom upgrade process.

  • Users must first upgrade to 1.9.0.1 and then run the upgrade to 2.1.0.0+

  • There is a specialized import process from 1.8.1.0+ versions of EPIC to 1.9.0.0. Customers will need to be updated to 1.8.1.0 or above, and then take a backup. After installation of 1.9.0.0, this backup can be directly imported into EPIC 1.9.0.0 for a seamless upgrade.

Known Issues

• Schools/Districts with older consoles or kiosks (installed before 2022), should not update to 2.5 without talking to tech support first.

• SMS and Email are not working in versions lower than 2.2.1.0
