EPIC System 2.5.4.0

Technical Release Notes 2.5.4.0

EPIC 2.5 is a new major release update that includes several significant user interface changes. Administrators should review the EPIC Interactive Training Module and prepare and train users prior to rolling out the updates. This is an open early access release. Customers should be aware of the updates and test it thoroughly before rolling it out to all sites.

Additions

  • Revamped the Header and the Scheduler UI, created a more intuitive and visually appealing user interface (UI) that mirrors the rest of the look of EPIC that was updated in 2.5.0.0. The new layout provides quick access to essential functions.

  • Implemented additional functionality to EPIC to prevent duplicate extensions being added. Users will be warned when adding a device, a user, or a CSV file, and an extension has already been used.

  • Updated the SIP Adjustment Volume to be a slider instead of an open field. This will ensure the correct settings are being set for the SIP volume.

  • Supports the AE InfoView Desktop Announcer app (currently in BETA), which can be loaded onto desktops throughout the school, and will display the same messaging as the InfoView displays during an event. This app requires a license and will need to be added by your administrator.

  • Added functionality into EPIC for the new CZA-1300 devices

Fixes

  • In this release there were various updates and improvements designed to add layers of redundancy so Intercom and Paging is always working when users need it. Below are some of those fixes:

    • Found an issue when updating the SIP secret, it was not pushing correctly to the devices, and potentially would cause the devices to not connect. This has been fixed.

    • When importing or exporting a device, and it had a duplicate extension, EPIC would not prevent it from being added. This has been fixed so it will warn the user of the duplicate extension, and it will not add the new device.

    • When removing permissions from a user during a page or intercom, the SIP call would be stuck, and the device had to be restarted. This has been fixed so that when the page is refreshed, the SIP call will close.

  • Found that the LDAP validation in some cases wouldn’t allow a hostname to be saved. This has been fixed to allow the correct hostnames to be added to EPIC.

  • Found an issue where the email from a SAFE Alert was not being sent to the selected contacts. This has been fixed and both the email and SMS messaging are sending to those contacts for that event.

  • Improved the look of the Mute/Unmute icon within Classroom Volumes. We discovered that the current ‘muted’ icon did not stand out enough to warn users the volume was muted.

  • There is an issue when multiple door sensors are in a warning/alert status, and one of the doors were closed, the times for the remaining open doors would reset. We fixed this so the correct times will always display for each door sensor.

  • We found an issue where the domain validation wouldn’t allow the domain to be saved if there were only two digits before the first period (.). This was fixed so that this format can be saved for the domain.

  • We found an issue when upgrading from 2.2.1.5 to 2.5.2.1 the events page wouldn’t display properly. We fixed it so this screen would display after upgrading.

  • When VIEWpath videos are uploaded, it would save is several different backend locations, and wasn’t very reliable and sometimes would bog down the system with being saved in so many locations. Simplified the process so it only saves in one location to help improve system quality.

  • We had an issue where if a camera was removed from EPIC, the camera icon wouldn’t be removed from the map. We fixed this so the icons are correctly removed if the device has been removed from EPIC.
