EPIC 3.0 is a major release update that includes significant user backend changes needed to provide enhanced security, improved performance, and support. Administrators should review the EPIC Interactive Training Module and prepare and train users prior to rolling out the updates.

When migrating from a version prior to 2.5, notification events must be manually migrated to a contact list and then added to events. If administrators edit events after updating to 2.5 prior to migrating contacts, event contacts may be lost.

Additions

• Third-Party Speaker Integration

  EPIC now supports integration with SIP-capable third-party speakers. These speakers can be connected to EPIC, assigned to rooms, and used for Intercom, Paging, and Announcements. Schools and districts can now leverage their existing audio infrastructure within EPIC, expanding coverage without replacing hardware.

  • Note: Audio Enhancement uses industry standard SIP protocols. Some 3rd party IP speaker manufacturers may block integration without use of their proprietary platform. Validate your SIP speakers to ensure compatibility.

• User Deletion Confirmation

  Administrators are now prompted with a confirmation dialog before permanently removing a user from EPIC. This added safeguard helps prevent accidental deletions and provides peace of mind when managing user accounts.

• Press-and-Hold Support for ITCs

  EPIC now supports press-and-hold functionality on ITCs and the ITC tab, available with 221 firmware. Administrators can configure the duration a button must be held before it activates, giving schools greater control over how staff interact with configurable ITC wall plate buttons.

Fixes

• Offline Device Highlighting Persistence

  Previously, when a room with an offline device (shown in yellow on the map) was selected for an Intercom Call or Page, the yellow highlighting was incorrectly cleared. The offline indicator now remains visible until the device issue is resolved, ensuring administrators retain full visibility into device status at all times.

• Automatic Redirect During Lockdown Events

  Resolved an issue where EPIC would not automatically return to the Home screen when a Lockdown was triggered by a configured event. EPIC now reliably redirects to the Home screen whenever a major event is initiated, ensuring the most critical information is immediately visible.

• Improved Search on the User Equipment Page

  The search function on the User Equipment page has been enhanced to support searching by ID, Equipment Type, first name, last name, and full name. Locating users and their assigned equipment is now faster and more flexible.

• Map Icon Cleanup After Device Deletion

  Fixed an issue where deleting a device from a room left a residual icon on the map. Device icons are now properly removed from the map as soon as the device is deleted, keeping the map view accurate and up to date.

• MS Device Provisioning
  Resolved an issue where certain MS devices restored to factory default settings were not receiving their assigned IP address when added to EPIC. The provisioning process has been corrected to ensure network settings, including the device IP address, are properly applied during device enrollment.

3.0.0 is a Major Version of EPIC releases.
